| Thinking about you |
| Fri, Mar. 30 2007 |
| The last day of March, 2007, my young brother Preston's birthday. I am thinking how lucky I am that you have stopped in here to see what's news. I haven't been posting enough here, I promise to do better.
Did you see my docutune on youtube?
Will you let me know what you think?
I've got a gig tonight in Piermont, NY. I'm planning to join Marcy and Des and Sandy and Billy and Jess afterwards in Nyack at Vertigo for some Irish music.
Wish you all would come and join us.
Please stop back in soon, I'll be looking for you!
Much love,

| Rockers on Broadway...I'll say! |
| Thu, Feb. 1 2007 |
| I wish you all could have been with us at the Rockers on Broadway night at BB King's Blues Club in Times Square Monday night, Jan 29.
Donnie Kehr, who is stellar in the Jersey Boys show, put together an amazing band for this evening of fun. And as our energized leader, he kept the spirits high and the beat lively. What a guy! The Tokens, who back in our earlier days of rock and roll recorded one of the most recognizable and beloved of rock and roll hits, "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" burst into that song for the sold out crowd. Next they sang a Carole King and Gerry Goffin penned song that they actually produced for the Chiffons, "One Fine Day". This might be my favorite song of all time, and it was a thrill to hear them sing it.
The night was hosted by the brilliantly funny Caroline Rhea. This gal has a huge heart and a generous soul, and is incredibly funny. She kept the ball rolling as we worked our way through this amazing night of music.
I got a chance to sing a favorite song of mine from the classic Broadway show, Oklahoma, "I Cain't Say No", and then we busted into "He's Waiting". "Fun" as a word to describe this moment for me just doesn't cover it!
Thank you to all the band and to the organizers and producers of this show for a unforgettable experience. Thank you to the sponsors of the event for helping to defray the costs, and thank you to the over-flow crowd for their support, their warmth and their indominatable esprit.
You Rock! |

| New Year's Eve 2007! |
| Thu, Jan. 4 2007 |
| Hi Cats and Kitties,
We had a very cool New Year's Eve up in Saratoga Springs. NY. Now, that's a nice town. I appreciate so very much the kindness and graciousness of our hosts, the YMCA of Saratoga and our tireless event coordinator, Maureen Duda.
Many thanks to the McKrells for sharing their stage with us, we had a night full of music and fun.
We each did 3 sets and we had over 1,500 people at each set. They have a good time in Saratoga. I can dig what they go through on a yearly basis, theirs is a summer resort community just like where I live.
Thanks to all the great folks who shared their First Night 2007 with us!
I can't wait to see you all out there on that beautiful road.
I can't get enough!
Warm wishes for a happy, healthy and golden New Year for us all!

| Singing with Tom Rush, quite a rush |
| Wed, Aug. 9 2006 |
| I think I channelled some higher being the night of this show, we were flying. However, I must say that all the shows have been flying lately.
Steve and John Lohman put together a fabulous week presenting the music and food of New Orleans as a fundraiser for chefs and musicians from there. One of the guest players was the fantastic Henry Butler, and I got to sing with him at the dinner party hosted by Judy Belushi Pisano and Victor Pisano, and then again at the Old Whaling Church. What a cat!
We are talking about getting together more, and doing some recording.
Stay tuned for that!
Nephew Isaac and and I performed for the benefit of the Vineyard House at a beautiful farm in Chilmark. We had a big crowd and delicious food, and a good time was had by all. Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting this worthy cause.
I was invited to sing at the 150th anniversary of the erection of the Gay Head Lighthouse, and it was a spectacular night, a gorgeous sunset, great folks and a memorable time.
Jim Belushi and the Sacred Heart Band came to the Outerland for two shows, one in July and one in August. He invited me to come sit in, and man that is a fun gig! It's like jumping on the engine of a freight train and letting it rip. Thank you Jim and band for treating me so right.
Christine Lavin came to the Tabernacle and called up to invite me to drop in for a couple of tunes. Well, she's just about my most favorite femail singer/songwriter, what a voice and her spirit is joyous and generous. What a gal. So, as I was going to the show anyway, I was more than happy to take the stage. Thanks to Christine and the amazing Vance Gilbert for making me feel so welcome and so at home.
But wait, there's more! Stay tuned, come check in often as I am back in the web site saddle and I want to talk with you and hear from you, ok?
Bye for now,
Kate |

| Some new recording news! |
| Mon, Mar. 13 2006 |
| Hi friends,
We are very pleased to have been in the studio for two different projects in the last few weeks. My good friend Cholene Espinoza has been down in Mississippi, helping a community there to get back on it's feet after Katrina. She has written a book, which will be available very soon. All of the proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the community. I had written a song about Cholene at the request of my dear lifelong friend Ellen Ratner, and she asked me to make a recording of it to offer as a gift for donors in their fund raising drive. I will keep you posted about it's availability.
The other song is also a recording that will come with a book. My friend Stacy Hall has written a lullaby, and put it into a children's book with gorgeous illustrations. She asked me to record the song, and Taylor and I put it down last week. The recording will be part of the book. I will let you know when this is available also.
All this recording reminds me of how much fun it is getting into the studio. I have a bunch of new songs and I am getting hungry to get them out! So, stay tuned!!!
Bye for now,
Kate |

| What, a new year already!? |
| Thu, Jan. 5 2006 |
| We were going along just fine, the calendar said 2005, then, say what, turn the month over and what have we here, 2006. I dare say it feels good, this '06. My wish is that we all get many great leaps closer to our dreams. Mine include getting south for some gigs; Austin, Nashville, you are calling me. Perhaps next fall. That is one dream of mine.
Otherwise, it's all happening. We have some fun dates coming up for this winter, spring and summer. We have new tunes in the works, the Live CD and Beautiful Road are cooking along, and our version of Auld Lang Syne was featured on General Hospital. Fun!
Come see us! Bye for now...Kate |

| Sid Bernstein Presents Kate Taylor |
| Sat, Dec. 3 2005 |
| Hello everyone, I miss you!
We are coming back to the Cutting Room this coming Friday, Dec. 9 at 9:00. The night is: SID BERNSTEIN PRESENTS KATE TAYLOR. We'll be celebrating the one year anniversary of the night we happened to record which is now the new Live CD.
Tony Garnier and Taylor Brown will be with me, and Mark Pender is going to join us. Later that night I will be joining him on his show also at the Cuttting Room. It is a blast with Mr. Mark, as you might imagine.
However, the most wonderful thing about the night this Friday is that my show is being presented by the amazing, sweet and brilliant music impersario, Sidney Bernstein. He is our fabulous hero who first brought the Beatles to America. And he is presenting me! Amazing! I feel like booking a flight from London and seeing if I can get some greeters to come to the airport! Something to work on for the future....
Sid will be introducing me and I can't wait to introduce him to you.
I hope to see you Friday night, and further on down that Beautiful Road.
Bye for now,
Kate |

| New CD |
| Mon, Oct. 3 2005 |
| I had been encouraged by a good number of folks who were there at the live show and who had heard our tapes of the night that we should make it available to all, so, here it is, Kate Taylor LIVE at the Cutting Room.
I am delighted to present this CD for you, even with it's imperfections. It is raw and live, and it has many of the elements that I hope for in a live show, energy, family and fun.
It was December 10 of last year, and Tony Garnier, Taylor Brown and I set up and dug in to a night of music at New York City's famed 'Cutting Room' on 24th Street. In the audience were many friends and family, some of whom ended up on stage. Their performances are shared here on this new disc.
The taping did not capture every song performed that night, but the 11 songs we got are here.
I look forward to welcoming you to a live show, we would love to see you. Meantime, catch this rare tape of an acoustic show.
Many thanks to a lot of folks who made this CD possible, but most especially to Sandy Hicks whose energy and support of the music is highly and heartily appreciated.
See you down that Beautiful Road! |

| Summer is winding down, bring on the Autumn |
| Tue, Aug. 23 2005 |
| Hi friends, We've had so much fun this summer and I want to fill you in on all the amazing moments. First, I want to tell you about how cool it was to go to the Today Show to see James play. He looks and sounds great at 6:00 in the morning! The venue at Rockefeller Plaza is amazing. James is very generous with his audience and I got a chance to meet some of them myself. I have included some photos from that morning on the visuals page of katetaylor.com and I have more to put up that I took on my camera. I would love to play there someday. I am setting that as a goal! Think positively and I'll see you there! I was invited, later in June, by Jim Belushi, to sing with him and his band at their show at the Hot Tin Roof. We sang "A Fool In Love". I felt like I was being shot up in a firework. Those guys are fantastic, and if you haven't had a chance to see Jim play live, you must. He is a very energetic, charismatic performer who loves the music and it shows. Soon after Jim's show, the Young Man Band and I put on our show at the Roof. WE had a great time, with my beautiful and talented daughters joining us for "Harriet Tubman", "It's in His Kiss", "You Don't Knock", "Too Many Troubles", and "Fool in Love". They rocked the house like they always do. Nephew Isaac came on and brought the place to its knees with "St. James' Infirmary" and Carly and nephew Ben joined us for what turned out to be a very emotionally charged performance of "You Can Close Your Eyes", in a tribute to Mindy Jostyn. We had a great night at the Hot Tin Roof and I look forward to seeing everyone there again next summer. The following week the Taylor Brown Trio and I started our Thursday night gigs at Lola's. It is always fun at Lola's, and playing there is definately all that. If you get to the island and want a great meal and lots of it, good company and fun music, get to Lola's. Tell them Kate said to say "Hi". Soon after our start at Lola's, nephew Ben was presenting his new songs and new friends at the Roof. I joined him onstage for "You Can Close Your Eyes", and he introduced us all to his compadres from England whom he met while making his newest recording there. They swapped songs and stories on stage for a very intimate and sweet night. Ben and I were the 'featured' artists up in Gay Head for the Vanderhoop Homestead fund raiser. This was a great night. The fog rolled in and the good cheer and dollars flowed as we sang into the misty evening. You could hear the waves folding onto the shore just yards away, and see the lighthouse light breaking through just enough to remind us of where we were and what our goals were there. I will write more about this project sometime, it's close to my heart. |

| Been SO Busy! |
| Sun, Jun. 19 2005 |
Hello friends where have you been? Where have I been is the question. California, 'Room With a View', oh how we love the Golden State. By the way friends, I love LA. I want to go back, now. What a fun time Taylor Brown, Rigel Byrum-Ridge, Andrew Lipow and I had, and too short a visit. If you have any suggesetions for places we can play up and down the west coast, please write me as I want to get a west coast tour together. How about sometime in Jan, Feb 2006? And then there was the trip to Washington DC with Arlen Roth to play at an event for Talk Radio News at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Fun! And, I met a couple of my heroes, Bill Maher and General Wesley Clark . And... there was the trip to Paris for our dear Astrea Young's wedding. That is a whole other story which I would love to tell later on when I have more time. And now, fresh off the stage at Carnegie Hall as a part of a benefit for the reforestation of Haiti. We were honored to contribute to this beautiful night. If you are looking for something worthwhile to do with some extra resources you might have, please consider Haiti. This is a country full of wonderful people, so close to us and so desparately in need of a helping hand. Let me know if you are interested and I will put you on to my friends there. After this coming Thursday, June 23rd, we will have had two musical tribute evenings for Mindy. The first one was at the renowned club, The Bitter End in New York City, and the one on the 23rd will be in Woodstock N Y at the Colony Cafe. This is a do not miss if you are in the area. Come and celebrate the wonderful gift that was Mindy Jostyn. We are gearing up for our date at the Hot Tin Roof on July 9. This is going to be a great show and I hope that you can make it. Thanks for staying tuned. I will be in touch again soon and write me if you have any questions or comments, and come to hear us play! Lots of love, Kate |

| Thank you Mindy Jostyn for being with us |
| Thu, Mar. 10 2005 |
| Dear Friends,
We have lost a sparkling jewel from our lives this week. I pray that you got to see and hear our beautiful friend, Mindy Jostyn play and sing. This woman was a mother, a wife, a musician, a masterful musician, a daughter, a sister and a sideman sister extraordinaire. Mindy had your back. Her voice was one which, well, we could say; An Angel wanted a voice and Mindy Jostyn appeared. Her tenderness on the piano, the sighing of her violin, how she could rock the entire block with her fiddle, and look out for her on the harmonica, boys. Whoa! Just ask Arlen Roth and any audience that got the chance to hear the two of them pitch into the battle of jazz when we'd perform songs like "Satellite Sky" and "Flying in The Face of Mr. Blue". Mindy was a master at everything she played. Her squeeze box was the breath of every song she played on it. Her persona on stage was a ray of light, sometimes weeping and sometimes stamping it's feet. Oh Mindy we will miss you so.
Our thoguhts go out to the Family of Mindy Jostyn, her loving husband and their wonderful, enchanting sons, her mother, her siblings, and her fellow musicians and music lovers who got a chance to see Mindy play live, knowing that they weren't just watching someone play music, they were watching Music itself.
God Love you Mindy
God Bless us all
I am grateful for your embodiment of joy...
Love to all of you from
Us at katetaylor.com |

| Wed, Feb. 23 2005 |
| We're coming back to The Cutting Room on Friday March 4 starting at 7:00 pm. I hope that any of you in town at that time can come to see us. Taylor Brown and his extremely hot and tight trio will be accompanying me. We expect some friends and familly to drop in. I love The Cutting Room and the food is great.
Liv invited me to join him in New Hope. PA at his gig there a couple of weeks ago. Now there is a nice town right there. I hope to be back there soon. Meantime, I joined Liv for his shows at the Firehouse in Newburyport, MA and we had a blast. I love that town!
We're gearing up for our summer gigs on the Vineyard. Plan your trip and come see us! |

| Suriviving the blizzard of '05 |
| Sat, Jan. 22 2005 |
| We had a gust nearby that was 78 mph here today, and it seemed like it never would let up. The snow blew around and around, settling into these 3 or4 feet high peaked ridges that looked like those aerial shots you see of Mt. Everest or Park City. What a trip!
Next stop...The Cutting Room in NYC! We had a great time there last month, Tony Garnier and Taylor Brown and I were joined by the Witham Sisters and niece Sally, and Carly Simon. I am excited about this Friday's show. Arlen Roth, who played a major portion of the guitar on "Beautiful Road", will be playing the set with us. If you haven't heard him play live you are in for a treat. We'll have some new tunes and friends and family and you all, all of us together, let's celebrate the Rolling Stone review and surviving the Blizzard of '05.
Love you!

| Kate at the Apollo |
| Mon, Dec. 27 2004 |
| I was invited by Carly Simon to sing with her and Mindy on her Christmas Concert with BeBe Winans at the famed Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY. What a wonderful couple of nights. 12 piece band, including Teese Gohl, T-bone Woulk, 3 back up singers, a 30 person choir. Sanctified! Neice Sally and Nephew Ben, Carly's sister Lucy and her daughter Julie sang, Liv sang one of his new numbers that will be on his new album, Rob Thomas sang an amazing song he wrote about New York at Christmas and one with BeBe, and BeBe and CeCe sang together. We want more! The good folks from California were there, #1 Gregory Rice, B4 (the fabulous Bill Faure) and Cousin Peyton from Maryland met up! We had dinner at Sylvia's and Peyton rescued me by retrieving my purse. Rene brought her handmade chocolate works of art for everyone. It was fun and we want more, all right! |

| What a weekend! |
| Sun, Nov. 21 2004 |
| Liv and I played together this past weekend at the Towne Crier in Pawling,NY. Thank you to all that came to the show, it was special to be together for all the celebrations.
It was the 32nd birthday of the club. That is a great testament to the owner and the staff. They have been providing a place for us to play music and hear music for a long time. Through thick and thin. Thank you Phil and everyone at the Towne Crier, and congratulations!
Also, it was brother Liv's birthday on Sunday and we surprised him with a cake. Sandy Hicks also had some tee shirts made up that have his name on the back with the number. I think we really got him! This is a special birthday, the number being the same as what his name spells in Roman numerals.
He is in great voice, as usual, and his new songs are wonderful. You are going to love his new record. Happy Birthday LIV!
Taylor and I are at the Norman Rockwell Museum at 4:30 on Dec 4.
Don't forget the Cutting Room on the 10th of Dec. We go on at 8:00. Don't you want to get into the city!
I'll see you down that beautiful road.
Love,
Kate
ps: if you're interested in getting one of the fabulous tee shirts, purple cotton, long sleeves, let me know and I 'll get you the details. |

| We can take a punch |

|
| Notes from the beautiful road |
| Fri, Oct. 29 2004 |
| It was wonderful to sing and play with Taylor Brown, Arlen Roth and Tony Garnier for our night at the Cutting Room in NYC. We got to catch up with old friends and made new ones. Sandy Hicks deserves many thank yous for her efforts on our behalf, she has bottomless energy and great friends. She and I went to The View while I was on that trip, meeting up with the fabulous Meredith Viera and the rest of V gang. We also took a trip to the main studios of MSNBC and met some of the folks that keep that place at the forefront of that medium. Sandy kept the whirlwind happening as we spun over to the Conan O'Brien show and heard the incredible band, Jimmy Vivino, Max Wienberg, etc.
Nat and Pam and I then went to Washington, DC at the invitation of our good friends Howell and Julie, where we caught the VOTE FOR CHANGE concert with Brother James, the Dixie Chicks, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen, the glorious John Fogerty, Jackson Brown, etc etc etc. What a night of Hope! Keep the faith, fellow citizens. We will prevail.
If the Red Sox can do it, John Kerry can too.
We must remember not to go back to sleep. Kerry becoming preisident is the first victory in a huge challenge to undo all the damage that has been done. I'm up for it and I hope you are too. |
|

| Vineyard Tour |
| Thu, Aug. 12 2004 |
| We have been having a blast this summer playing the Vineyard 2004 at Alchemy and Atria and adding the Aquinnah Shop on the tour route. I'm going to have tee shirts made, so watch for them on the web page. I have so much I want to tell about the gigs! My dear friend Joel Zoss has sat in with Taylor Brown and me on several nights over the summer, and he is a real crowd pleaser. We've worked in a couple of new tunes together, and it is a joy to sing with him.
He has some great new songs, by the way, and is recording a new album which is fantastic, exciting and long overdue.
Carly came out to Atria one night recently and we sang "You Can Close Your Eyes". It felt great as usual. Arlen Roth was on-island then too, and he came and joined us on guitar for a few numbers. His beautiful daughter Lexi sang a song as well.
I have worked up a couple of sets with Max Butler on keyboards, Taylor Brown on guitar, Jesse Weiner on bass and Matt Rosenthal on drums. They are the Young Man Band and they rock! We are having a great time.
We performed up at the Aquinnah Shop in Gay Head last Sunday on the patio. What an incredibly gorgeous spot! This Sunday, August 15, we will be there again playing and partying hardily 'cause it's my birthday. Come on up! Call 508 645 3867 for information.
There's so much more I want to tell you but I must dash this minute. Stay tuned!
Love to all...

| The Iron Horse |
| Sun, May. 23 2004 |
| It was great to be on stage at the legendary Iron Horse in North Hampton, MA. John Coster and Joel Zoss and I shared some players, doing our own material and singing together also. Those two fellas are very talented singer/songwriters, and working with them has been a joy.
Mindy Jostyn joined me that night and she, as usual, rocked the house! She doesn't just make music, she is music.
At the end of the night , Leah Kunkle and Marty Townsend, The Coyote Sisters, joined us all on stage for the last couple of songs. It was like singing with a choir of angels. The next day when I was driving down the Turnpike, I heard our singing again. I thought it was coming through the radio, but the radio wasn't on. It was other-wordly and beautiful.
Thank you all for coming and being part of a very special night. |
